Online Survey

Alaska’s seafood industry is the state’s largest private employer. An estimated 30,000 people participate in the harvesting of fish and shellfish in Alaska each year.

To better support the fishing, seafood and maritime industries, the State of Alaska, industry and the University of Alaska are working together in 2013 to develop a Workforce Development Plan for these sectors. Similar plans have been created for the state’s healthcare industry and the oil and gas industry. Theses plans guide state agencies, educational institutions and the industry in developing programs and policies that support our most vital economic engines in Alaska.

If you are a fisherman, please take a few minutes to give your input by filling out a brief online survey available through March 1 at https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/alaskafishingworkforce

Thanks you for you time and input. If you have any questions, please contact the FSMI program at 907 274 9691 in Anchorage. www.alaska.edu/fsmi
